Ways to increase your private health insurance protection:

Dental and Optical

Although Core Cover includes cover for oral surgical and some ophthalmic procedures, you can also choose additional benefits that help with the cost of routine dental expenses, accidental dental injuries and optical expenses.

Other Treatments and Therapies

You may need to use complementary or alternative treatments. So, your GP can refer you directly for certain treatments, like osteopathy, without referring you to a Specialist.

Ways to keep the cost of your private health insurance down:

Six Week Option

Benefits for in-patient or day-patient treatment will only be available privately if treatment is not available at an NHS hospital within six weeks.

You will still benefit from private cover should your GP refer you to a Specialist for diagnosis. If subsequent eligible treatment as an out-patient is required, you can go private for this too.

Reduced Out-patient Cover and Benefits

You can choose to reduce your out-patient cover. If you're happy to use the NHS or pay for certain out-patient treatments yourself, this option is ideal for you as it will lower your premium.

Policy excess

By choosing to apply a £500 or £1,000 excess to the policy you can reduce your premium you pay. Each member who makes a claim will have to pay this cost, but only once per policy year.
