Critical illness cover pays out a lump sum if you are diagnosed with a critical illness that meets our plan definition and then survive for at least 14 days. We only cover the critical illnesses we define in our plan and no others.
You pay regular monthly or yearly premiums and in return you get critical illness insurance cover for a fixed term.
The plan has no cash-in value at any time. If we pay out after a claim, the plan will end.
You can take out critical illness cover as a stand-alone plan. Alternatively, if you also need life cover, you can take out life insurance with critical illness cover. For more information about these plans, call us on 0800 404 6461.

You can choose the amount of cover you want up to a maximum total of £500,000 - any other critical illness cover you may have with Norwich Union or another provider must be taken into account as you can't exceed £500,000 cover.
A cash lump sum could make a big difference if you lose your income due to illness. It could help pay for everyday living expenses, treatment or necessary alterations to your home, or help pay off your mortgage. These are just a few examples of what the lump sum can help to cover.
With a Norwich Union Critical Illness Plan you're covered for 26 specified critical illnesses.
Our plan also includes free children's critical illness cover, to which some different conditions apply.
We'll review the premium every five years, but guarantee that it will stay the same between reviews. If you take out life insurance with critical illness cover, you can also choose to take the guaranteed rates option.
We want you to have the confidence that a claim would be paid under your plan, so it's important that the information you give us is clear and accurate.
The plan has no cash-in value at any time, so if you stop paying your premiums before the end of the payment term, your plan and critical illness cover will end 30 days after the last premium was due and you'll get nothing back.
